1. General Provisions
1.1. VERITAS International, referred to in these Terms and Conditions as "VERITAS" or the "Platform", provides an online similarity checking service for documents uploaded by users.
1.2. The Service is intended for individuals and legal entities seeking to check a document for textual similarity before submitting, publishing or otherwise using it.
1.3. By accessing the Platform, uploading a document or using any of the available services, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
1.4. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not use the Platform.
2. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
Platform – the VERITAS International online similarity checking platform.
Operator – the individual or legal entity responsible for administering and operating the Platform.
User – any individual or legal entity that accesses the Platform or uses its services.
Document – a file uploaded by a User for similarity checking.
Similarity Analysis – the automated process of checking the text of a Document to identify textual similarities.
Similarity Report – the report generated by the Platform upon completion of the Similarity Analysis.
Service – the features available through VERITAS, including document upload, similarity analysis and report generation.
3. Scope of the Service
3.1. VERITAS provides automated similarity checking by comparing the text of uploaded Documents against the sources available for analysis.
3.2. The Service provides information about textual similarities and the sources identified during the Similarity Analysis.
3.3. The Similarity Report is provided for informational purposes and serves as a technical tool to assist the User.
3.4. The VERITAS Similarity Report does not constitute an expert assessment, certification or official determination as to whether plagiarism has or has not occurred.
3.5. The Similarity Report does not replace an assessment by an educational institution, reviewer, authority or other competent body.
3.6. The User is responsible for interpreting the results and deciding how to use them.
4. Conditions of Use
4.1. The Platform may be used only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
4.2. You represent that you have the right to upload the Document submitted for analysis and that its use does not infringe the rights of any third party.
4.3. You must not upload malicious files, harmful software or any material that could disrupt or impair the operation of the Platform.
4.4. Unauthorised testing, attacks, security breaches and attempts to access protected areas of the Platform are prohibited.
4.5. The Operator may restrict access to the Service where it identifies abusive, fraudulent or unlawful use.
5. Uploaded Documents
5.1. Documents are used solely to perform the requested Similarity Analysis and generate the corresponding Similarity Report.
5.2. VERITAS does not acquire any ownership rights in uploaded Documents.
5.3. The User retains the rights to the Document and remains responsible for the content submitted.
5.4. Uploaded Documents are not added to a database used to compare them against documents submitted by other users.
5.5. Documents are not used to train or improve artificial intelligence models.
5.6. Documents and Similarity Reports are retained only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and are then deleted in accordance with the retention period applied by the Operator.
6. Pricing, Payments and Refunds
6.1. Document similarity checking is a paid service.
6.2. The price is calculated and displayed to the User before payment is initiated.
6.3. After reviewing the final price, you may decide whether to proceed with payment.
6.4. Similarity Analysis begins only after the payment processor confirms payment.
6.5. If payment is cancelled, declined or cannot be confirmed, the Similarity Analysis will not begin.
6.6. The Platform does not store full payment card details. Payments are processed by a specialist payment service provider.
6.7. Once the Similarity Analysis has been performed and completed, the service fee will not be refunded solely because the findings in the Similarity Report do not meet the User's expectations.
6.8. If the Similarity Analysis cannot be performed because of a technical error attributable to the Platform, you may request that the analysis be performed again or that the amount paid be refunded, subject to your statutory rights.
7. Confidentiality and Data Protection
7.1. The Operator implements reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Documents and data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
7.2. Uploaded Documents are not made available to other users.
7.3. Personal data is processed in accordance with applicable law and the Privacy Policy published on the Platform.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1. The Platform's source code, design, interface, graphics, logo, VERITAS name, text and documentation are protected under applicable law.
8.2. Use of the Service does not grant the User any intellectual property rights in the Platform.
8.3. Copying, reproducing, modifying, distributing, decompiling or commercially exploiting any elements of the Platform without the Operator's prior consent is prohibited.
8.4. You may use the Similarity Report for your own lawful purposes.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1. VERITAS aims to provide relevant results. However, Similarity Analysis is automated and depends on the algorithms and sources available at the time of the check.
9.2. The Operator does not guarantee that all existing sources will be identified or that every possible textual similarity will be detected.
9.3. The Operator is not liable for any determination by an institution, reviewer or authority that a Document does or does not constitute plagiarism.
9.4. The Operator is not liable for the consequences of a User's improper use or interpretation of the Similarity Report.
9.5. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits consumers' statutory rights or excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Service Availability
10.1. The Operator may temporarily suspend the Platform for maintenance, updates, error correction or security reasons.
10.2. The Operator does not guarantee that the Service will be continuously available or uninterrupted.
10.3. In the event of an interruption, the Operator will make reasonable efforts to restore the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
11.1. The Operator may amend or update these Terms and Conditions where necessary.
11.2. The updated version will be published on the Platform and will state the date of the latest update.
11.3. Changes apply to use of the Platform and orders placed after those changes take effect, without affecting rights already acquired under applicable law.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
12.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Romania.
12.2. Any dispute should first be addressed through an attempt to reach an amicable resolution.
12.3. If an amicable resolution cannot be reached, you may refer the matter to the competent authorities or courts in accordance with applicable law.
